

He was born in Istanbul in 1938. He graduated from Kabataş Boys High School in 1958. He started painting in 1959. He drew cartoons for "Dolmuş", "Tef" and "Pardon" magazines. He opened his first art exhibition in Taksim Square in 1959. He studied in the Ceramics Department at the State Academy of Fine Arts between 1964 and 1969 and graduated from there. He won the International Peace Festival Painting First Prize and the Ahmet Andiçen Ceramics First Prize in the Academy in 1967. While he was a student at the Academy, his work was accepted to the Beşiktaş Painting and Sculpture Museum National Collection upon the suggestion of Sabri Berker. The artist, who won the first prize in the Tekel Painting Competition in 1987, has his paintings in the Istanbul and Ankara Painting and Sculpture Museums, the Broken Hill Municipality Museum in Australia, the Abby Gray Collection of New York University, Istanbul Modern, and many important collections in Turkey and abroad. The artist, who chooses a different location and subject each year, lives in Bakırköy, Istanbul. In 2009, Muhsin Kut was deemed worthy of the 'honorary artist' award of the 19th Istanbul Art Fair for his significant contributions to Turkish painting.
