Born in 1974 in Paris, Jérôme Zonder lives and works in Paris.Jérôme Zonder has spent the last twenty or so years developing a consummate body of work centered on the constantly reinvented practice of drawing, as a work to be placed on an easel, and as an immersive environment that invites the spectator to penetrate inside the very drawing. In the artist’s works, questions on the human condition are front and center in representation. “Drawing, for me, boils down to creating a functioning symbolic space and to building a system in which we can place the world and its question.”Winner of the Prix Antoine Marin in 2005, Jérôme Zonder also completed many residencies in France and abroad, including “Lia” (Leipzig International Art Program) in Leipzig, Germany, in 2013, and the residency of the Institut Français in Seoul, South Korea, in 2008. The artist was among the three finalists of the twelfth edition of the Daniel and Florence Guerlain Drawing Prize in 2019.Jérôme Zonder’s work is held by important public and private collections, both in France and abroad, including the Istanbul Modern Museum in Turkey, the Fonds municipal d’art contemporain-FMAC in Paris, the FRAC Picardie and Auvergne, the Fondation Antoine de Galbert in Paris, the Fondation Emerige – Collection Laurent Dumas in Paris, the Maison Particulière – Collection Amaury de Solages in Brussels, and the Collection Florence et Daniel Guerlain in les Mesnuls.
