Johannes Wohnseifer

Johannes Wohnseifer is best known for his works featuring invented logos and subversive messages that borrow from corporate branding jargon, loaded cultural symbols, and political propaganda. Working within an array of media including collage, painting, and photography, Wohnseifer explores such daunting themes as war, death, and time. For the installation Stacked Studio Lights (2010), for example, Wohnseifer arranged a horizontal rows of fluorescent lights that brightened and dimmed according to the artist’s own sleep cycle, accounting for the time difference between New York and his native Germany.
