Ismail Yilmaz is a self-taught visual artist from Turkey, whose chosen medium is photography and video. Yilmaz seeks to interrogate the relationship of the individual with themselves, as well as within society and more broadly, the universe. Focusing on the body, its existence and absence in nature, İsmail’s works observe our complex bond with our environment. Having graduated from the Anadolu University in Eskişehir in 2013, Yilmaz currently lives and works in Ankara, Turkey. Ismail’s works have recently been exhibited at Contemporary Istanbul, Zilberman and has attended various workshops, among which were organised by GAPO, an organisational and curatorial team specialised in photography and visual arts and artist Orhan Cem Çetin.
