

Born in 1956 in Turkey, Ahmet Sel explores the portrait and field of documentary photography. From 1990 to 2000, he lived in Moscow where he was correspondent of the Five, Arte, Sipa bureau chief. In 2003, he received the "Fujifilm Press Photo Awards France" prize in the Portraits category and in 2004 won the first prize of the "National Magazine Awards Foundation" in Canada in the category of words and images. He works preferably on subjects and series of images whose realization is spread over long periods. Today his photos are many public and private collections including Turkish Bank Yapı Kredi and the Museum of Contemporary Art Istanbul Modern. He lives today in Ankara, Turkey.
