Fahr-El-Nissa Zeid
Turkish·1901–1991
Fahr-El-Nissa Zeid was a Turkish artist renowned for her large-scale abstract paintings. Studying in Paris during the 1950s, she fused Eastern and Western influences in her work. Zeid’s paintings feature vibrant colors, intricate patterns, and abstracted forms inspired by Islamic art and Byzantine mosaics. Her artistic style evolved over time, encompassing figurative, abstract, and surreal elements. Beyond her own creations, Zeid played a pivotal role as a cultural ambassador and mentor to young artists in Turkey. Her art embodies a unique synthesis of cultural influences, exploring themes of identity, spirituality, and the interplay between East and West.
