MELİKE KUŞ
Melike Kuş was born in Ankara in 1997. She graduated Ankara Fine Arts High School, Department of Painting, from in 2015 and completed her studies in Painting at Anadolu University in 2020. Inspired by her travels and exposure to different cultures, the artist has developed an interdisciplinary language of production, focusing particularly on new techniques and forms in embroidery and painting. Her artistic practice foregrounds portraits that question the concepts of looking and seeing, depictions of the female body, and landscapes that engage with themes of social change and transformation. Her interest in color and texture aims to establish a strong visual and emotional connection with the viewer. Kuş creates organic textures using thread, wool fabric, and natural fibers, combining traditional textile techniques such as knitting and embroidery with her paintings from a contemporary perspective. By interacting with threads, bringing together colors and textures, she seeks to tell a visual story. In her creative process, she focuses on using natural fibers such as thread and wool fabric to generate organic textures. Engaging with materials through techniques like knitting and embroidery, she approaches traditional textile practices with a modern outlook, merging them with her paintings. Through this, she emphasizes the exploration of materiality and aesthetic expression. Since 2019, she has been actively pursuing her artistic practice. Between 2021 and 2025, she lived in Dublin, where she continued her artistic work. She is now based in London, continuing her practice there. Kuş participates in international exhibitions and takes part in art events.
