She is deeply fascinated by creating spaces within her art where cultures intermingle, bridging gaps that may not have otherwise been crossed. At the core of her artistic inquiry lies an exploration of how individuals relate to the world and how their surroundings shape them. Inspired by the uniquely beautiful and distinct cultural histories of both Turkey and her native Wyoming, her work reflects the influence of these diverse geographies on her artistic identity. Through her art, she investigates themes of family, history, time, and place, often creating a dialogue between the contemporary cultural landscape of Wyoming and the ancient human history of Turkey. In addition to using traditional materials such as oil, gouache, and acrylic, she frequently incorporates a wide range of techniques and found objects into her work. She has discovered a rich array of materials by exploring the ubiquitous flea markets and antique stores of Istanbul—antique frames, wallpaper, and old book covers often find their way into her paintings. She has also developed a strong interest in local crafts, such as marbling paper, and integrates these techniques into her practice. The use of found objects and traditional crafts serves to blur the boundaries between tradition and innovation, art and everyday life. Through painting and drawing, she seeks to unravel the layered intersections of personal and collective histories. Her intention is to spark dialogue through her work—challenging dominant narratives and inviting viewers to reflect on the interconnectedness of shared human experiences across borders and through time.
