Barış Köksal, an Istanbul native born in 1992, developed an early interest in painting and started using art to communicate his struggles. He was accepted to the interior architecture department of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in 2010. He learned how to employ crucial components like color, composition, and texture in his artwork here, under the guidance of highly valuable instructors. With encouragement from his instructors, he began his profession in interior architecture in 2012. He worked as an interior architect for three years while pursuing his studies. He received his degree from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in 2015. After designing wooden handmade furniture for various companies, he founded his own furniture brand "ol Tasarım (ol Design)" in 2017. Here, he produced massive and simple handmade furniture with influences from Japanese culture. In 2019, he began to express his struggles by painting, as he did in his childhood, and started his professional career in art. In 2021, he held his first solo exhibition, "Atmosfer (Atmosphere)", at 8artı1 Gallery, Istanbul. He had his solo exhibition "Sınırlar (Borders)" at Cemal Reşit Rey Concert Hall, Istanbul in 2022. He held a duo performance exhibit “Tantana (Pandemonium) with artist Cansu Dinç in 2022 at La Mer Beach in Bodrum. He had his solo exhibition "Bir Şeyler Kımıldıyor (Something is Moving)" at Bodrum Ant Haven in 2023. He still carries his artistic activities in his workshop at Üsküdar, Istanbul. Without going through a process of thought, the artist conveys the events he experiences to canvas on a subject based on the effects they left on him with the intention of truly inspiring people without regard for beauty.
